Definition and Usage

The TextMode property is used to set or return the behavior mode of a TextBox control.

Syntax

<asp:TextBox TextMode="mode" runat="server" />
 
Attribute Description
mode A number specifying the maximum number of characters allowed in the text box

Possible values:

  • SingleLine - Default. One line text box
  • MultiLine - Text box with multiple lines
  • Password - One line text box that masks the input

Example

The following example sets the text mode of a TextBox control to "Password":

<asp:TextBox id="tb1" runat="server" TextMode="Password" />
</form>
