Definition and Usage

The clip property sets or returns which part of a positioned element is visible. 

Syntax

Set the clip property:

Object.style.clip="auto|rect(top right bottom left)|inherit"

Return the clip property:

Object.style.clip

Value Description
auto Default. The element does not clip
rect(top right bottom left) Clips the shape defined by the four coordinates
inherit The value of the clip property is inherited from the parent element

Internet Explorer Firefox Opera Google Chrome Safari

The clip property is supported in all major browsers.

Note: The value "inherit" is not supported in IE7 and earlier. IE8 requires a !DOCTYPE. IE9 supports "inherit".
