W3C RDF and OWL Activities
RDF and OWL are two important Semantic Web technologies.
The Semantic Web
The Semantic Web is a framework for asset management, enterprise integration,
and the sharing of data on the web.
The Semantic Web is a framework for sharing data between companies,
applications, enterprises, communities, and people, independent of platform and
software.
RDF and OWL are key Semantic Web technologies.
RDF - Resource Description Framework
RDF is a language for presenting information to the World Wide Web.
RDF is a language for describing web resources, such as title, author, and
copyright information, content description, availability schedules, and more.
If you want to learn more about RDF, please visit
W3Schools' RDF Tutorial.
OWL - Web Ontology Language
OWL is a language for defining ontologies.
Ontology describes an area of knowledge. It can be used by people, or
software, to share information about objects like automobiles, houses, medicine,
books, production, financial transactions, etc.
OWL is designed to be used for processing information (instead of
displaying the information).
If you want to learn more about OWL, please visit
W3Schools' RDF Tutorial.
SPARQL - Query Language for RDF
SPARQL is a standardized query language for RDF data which offers developers
a way to write queries across the wide range of RDF information on the web.
