WSDL is an XML-based language for describing Web services and how to access them.


WSDL

WSDL stands for Web Services Description Language, and is an XML-based language for describing Web Services.

WSDL 1.1

WSDL 1.1 was suggested in a note to W3C in March 2001 (by Ariba, IBM and Microsoft), as a language for describing Web Services.

The note also described how to use WSDL in conjunction with SOAP 1.1, HTTP GET/POST, and MIME types.


WSDL 1.2

The first working drafts were published 17. December 2001.

The latest working drafts were published 11. June 2003.


WSDL 2.0

WSDL 2.0 became a W3C Recommendation 26. June 2007.


Web Architecture

To preserve the properties of the World Wide Web as technologies evolve, W3C has created a recommendation for the core design components of the Web.

Architecture of the World Wide Web, Volume One is a W3C recommendation describing the standard protocols that support the identification of, and interaction between Web resources.
