The length property returns the number of nodes in a node list.

Syntax

nodelistObject.length
 

Example

The following code fragment loads "books.xml" into xmlDoc using loadXMLDoc() and gets the number of <title> elements:

xmlDoc=loadXMLDoc("books.xml");

x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName('title');

document.write("Number of title elements: " + x.length);

The output of the code above will be:

Number of title elements: 4
