Definition and Usage

The insertData() method inserts data to a text node.

Syntax

insertData(start,string)

Parameter Description
start Required. Specifies where to begin inserting characters. Start value starts at zero
string Required. Specifies the string to insert

Example

The following code fragment loads "books.xml" into xmlDoc using loadXMLDoc() and inserts a string to the text node of the first <title> element:

xmlDoc=loadXMLDoc("books.xml");
x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("title")[0].childNodes[0];

x.insertData(0,"Cooking: ");
document.write(x.data);

Output:

Cooking: Everyday Italian
