The length property returns the length of the text of a node (in characters).
Syntax
Example
The following code fragment loads "books.xml"
into xmlDoc using
loadXMLDoc() and prints the text node data and length from the first <title>
element:

x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("title")[0].childNodes[0];
