Browser Support
The type attribute is supported in all major browsers.
Definition and Usage
The type attribute of <ol> is deprecated in HTML 4.01.
The type attribute specifies the kind of marker to use in the list.
Compatibility Notes
The type attribute of <ol> is not supported in HTML 4.01 Strict / XHTML 1.0 Strict DTD.
Use CSS instead.

Attribute Values
| Value | Description |
|---|---|
| 1 | Numerical ordered list (this is default) (1, 2, 3, 4) |
| a | Alphabetically ordered list, lowercase (a, b, c, d) |
| A | Alphabetically ordered list, uppercase (A, B, C, D) |
| i | Roman numbers, lowercase (i, ii, iii, iv) |
| I | Roman numbers, uppercase (I, II, III, IV) |
