Definition and Usage

The test() method searches a string for a specified value.

This method returns true if a match is found, and false if not.

Syntax

RegExpObject.test(string)

Example

In the following example we change the pattern from "Microsoft" to "W3Schools", and then test if we find the specified pattern in a string:

if (patt.test(str)==true)

The output of the code above will be:
