The width attribute is supported in all major browsers.


Definition and Usage

The width attribute of <td> is deprecated in HTML 4.01.

The width attribute specifies the width of a table cell.

Normally, a cell takes up the space it needs to display the content. The width attribute is used to set a predefined width of a cell.


Compatibility Notes

The width attribute of <td> is not supported in HTML 4.01 Strict / XHTML 1.0 Strict DTD.

Use CSS instead.
