CSS grid-template-areas Property


Example

Make the named item "myArea" span two columns in a five columns grid layout:

.item1 {
  grid-area: myArea;
}
.grid-container {
  display: grid;
  grid-template-areas: myArea myArea . . .;

Definition and Usage

The grid-template-areas property specifies how to display the grid layout.

You can name items by using the grid-area property on the grid item, and refer to the name in the grid-template-areas decalration.

Each row is defined by apostrophes (' ').

The columns in each row are defined inside the apostrophes, separated by a space.

Use a period sign to refer to a grid item with no name.

Default value: none
