Definition and Usage

The scandir() function returns an array of files and directories inside a specified path.

This function returns an array on success and FALSE and a warning on failure.

Syntax

scandir(directory,sort,context)

Parameter Description
directory Required. Specifies the directory to scan
sort Optional. Specifies the sort order. Default is 0 (ascending). If set to 1, it indicates descending order
context Optional. Specifies the context of the directory handle. Context is a set of options that can modify the behavior of a stream


Example

?>

The output of the code above will be:

Array
(
[0] => .
[1] => ..
[2] => dog.jpg
[3] => house.jpg
[4] => logo.gif
)
