About Adding Page Numbers to PDFs
Page numbers make long documents easier to navigate, reference, and print. Many PDFs - especially ones built from scans, slides, or merged files - have no page numbers at all, or numbering that no longer matches after pages were added or removed.
This tool draws the number directly onto each page using the standard Helvetica font, so it becomes a permanent part of the document and shows up in every PDF viewer and on paper. You can choose where the number sits (top or bottom, left, center or right), how it is written (a plain number, "Page 1", or "1 of N"), what number to start counting from, and whether to leave the first page - often a cover - unnumbered.
The PDF is processed entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so the tool is safe to use with confidential documents.
