Definition and Usage

The setMonth() method sets the month (from 0 to 11), according to local time.

Note: January is 0, February is 1, and so on.

Note: This method is always used in conjunction with a Date object.

Syntax

Date.setMonth(month,day)

Parameter Description
month Required. An integer between 0 and 11 representing the month
day Optional. An integer between 1 and 31 representing the day

The setMonth() method is supported in all major browsers.


Examples

Example 1

Set the month to 0 (January):
